Walking at White Horse Hill, Uffington
LOCAL WALKS & HIKES

BY FOOT

FROM THE YURT

Our farm track is actually party of the footpath network so to get rambling you just need to get on the track and pick a direction:

Heading back to the road you can cross straight over and head in to the woods directly opposite,  Keep an eye out as it is full of deer, squirrels and other wildlife. You can either just wander around and enjoy it or push through and head up to Badbury Clump and connect to other footpaths from there.

Heading down towards and then past the farm you can strike out over fields to the Thames at that point you have two choices...

  • Turn left to follow the Thames past a lock and a weir and then loop back to the village of Buscot which has tea rooms and one of the best wild swimming locations in the country. (One way: 2-3 hours)

  • Turn right and you'll end up at the Swan at Radcott, a lovely riverside pub, for a well earned pint! (One way: 1-1.5 hours) Just leave yourself plenty of time and sunlight if you're also planning on walking back!

BADBURY CLUMP

Just two miles away on the other side of Faringdon. Badbury clump is a Natural trust site that offers acres of ancient woodland to explore.

Based around the site of an Iron Age hill fort, it's the perfect place to get lost in nature for a few hours. If you're here at the right time of year you'll be treated to the stunning sight of wild bluebells which carpet the area during April and May.

There are also several downhill mountain bike trails for the adventurous among you!

You can reach the clump by foot (simply head down the track to the road, cross over in to the woods and keep going), by bike, or by car (there is a car park on site, £2 for 2 hours or £4 for the entire day)

LAKE WALKS

If you'd prefer a lakeside walk we'd recommend Whelford Pools, a local nature reserve.

Comprising of several lakes which are teeming with water birds and other wildlife. The location also offers water sports and fishing facilities.

It's just a short 10 minute drive from The Spinney and has a free carpark on site.
